Design of New Houses Research

Pam Thomas, Disabled Researcher

Pam Thomas is a disabled researcher who wants to hear from disabled people who want to be owner occupiers in the UK.

Pam says, “I would really like to hear from any disabled person who has looked at newly built property to buy and whether they have found the design to be good or bad.”

She is carrying out the research based at the University of Salford and the results will be made known to the house building industry. Pam adds, “I have tried to find out from housing developers why they do not use inclusive design when building new properties. They mostly do not go beyond what the law requires.”

Any disabled person who would be interested in telling of their experience of design in new housing to buy is invited to contact Pam at the Bridgewater Building, University of Salford, M7 9NU, by e-mail p.Thomas@pgr.salford.ac.uk or phone 0161-295-4939.
