The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council Aims high for 2004

As of 16 April 2004, Andy Rickell, ceased to be Director of The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council . The National Council (Board of Directors), thank Andy for all his hard work in the continuing fight for all disabled peoples rights over the last three years.

Over the past twenty years The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council  has been recognised for its successful campaigning and political interaction, we still aim to go further in the absence of a director.

With the support of our member groups, individual members, politicians as well as, our highly skilled staff team, The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council  vows to aim higher. From having been involved in projects such as the UK Disabled Peoples Parliament, Our Rights Now, the Group Development Programme in the past and many others. We offer a high standard transcriptions service as well as Disability Equality Training, conference Speech delivery, and have delivered many conference speeches for the Home Office, Crown Prosecution Service and other bodies.

Meanwhile The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council directors are taking this opportunity to revisit the areas identified by our members as to the campaigning priorities for disabled people in the continuing fight for our full civil rights.

We are the only disabled peoples' organisation that was asked to give oral evidence to the Joint Scrutiny Committee for the Draft Disability Bill.

Furthermore, we are the only disabled peoples organisation that sits on the Government Task Force for the Single Equality and Human Rights Commission. Summary of discussion up to April 1st 2004 appears on the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) website.
