Full Membership

Thank you for your interest in possible membership of The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council . In considering your application for membership, we ask you to pay particular attention to our rules on admittance. Full Member Groups must be able to demonstrate (through their own constitution/memorandum and articles of association) that they are controlled and managed by disabled people.

This means:-

• Be committed to the Social Model of Disability
• That the organisation is led and controlled by Disabled People
• That at least 51% of the full voting members are Disabled People
• That at least 75% of the Management/Executive or Board of Trustees are Disabled People

All of the above points must be demonstrated in your constitution, which must be sent to us with your application.

However, if your organisation does not currently qualify for full membership you can consider joining as an Associate Member. This would give you a period of three years to amend your constitution to enable you to meet the criteria of a Full Member.

Normally the membership fee for Full Member Groups (local and national) is £40. For groups who demonstrate poor financing, a reduction may be available. Groups joining through the year pay a part of the fee.
